Attorney Peter McGrath has been a Buffalonian for the past seven years . Pete grew up in the Greenville section of Jersey City, New Jersey, as one of five brothers. During his high school days, Pete participated in many activities, such as student government, the Future Business Leaders of America, editing the Subterranean Magazine, and was a starting pitcher and third baseman for his school's baseball team.
Soon after graduating from high school, Pete enrolled at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. After one year, however, due to certain life circumstances, Pete disenrolled from Rutgers and began to work full-time as an electrician's assistant. During his tenure at this position, he was responsible for overseeing the implementation of an energy management control system at Maguire Air Force Base in Lakehurst, New Jersey. The work was rewarding, and most of all, Pete enjoyed contributing to the success and enrichment of this great nation and its troops. That being said, after some time, the work no longer challenged his intellect and his life's ambition shifted towards furthering his education.
"It was just another day: white to white, wire nut; black to black, wire nut; two red to single input yellow, wire nut; two yellow to single input red, wire nut. Switch on the circuit breaker and watch the dim mechanical room radiate with the intensity of a supernova. This electronic ballast installation, however, was not as its predecessors; at the very moment the electrical current was transformed to a higher voltage, so was my life’s perspective. The adage of a new idea being followed by the ignition of filament in a light bulb, though trite, is duly relevant in this case." (Excerpt of a Peter McGrath speech at Kean University, Fall 2009)
Soon thereafter, Pete enrolled at Kean University in Union, New Jersey. While at Kean, Pete was often recognized for superlative academic achievement, for example he: made the Dean's List every semester; was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi (an interdisciplinary international honor society), Psi Chi (a national honor society in the field of Psychology), and Phi Beta Kappa (a nation honor society aimed at inducting the most outstanding students in arts and sciences at American colleges); and was one of a few Kean Scholars (which requires a minimum 3.85 GPA for distinction). Additionally, Pete was heavily involved in community service, the Pre-Law Society, and the Kean University Social Justice Organization. In December of 2008, Pete graduated Summa Cum Laude (3.89 GPA) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology.
While at Kean, Pete realized that he could best benefit society by using his talents, skills, and strong work ethic by becoming an attorney and providing legal representation at a reasonable price. Therefore, Pete took the LSAT (standardized test used for law school admission) and scored very high. He subsequently applied to fourteen law schools, and was offered admittance to all of them, with many offering academic scholarships. Pete selected the University of Buffalo Law School because of a cost-benefit analysis -- UB Law School is consistently listed as a top-tier law school by higher education publications, and the tuition is manageable so that upon graduation he would be able to provide legal services for a discounted price. Soon after beginning his law school career, Pete fell in love with Buffalo. The city has great history, the citizens genuinely care about the city's success, and of course the food and culture are great. Buffalo provides a small town feel in the second largest city in New York.
During law school, Pete developed inestimable skills. Through a holistic approach to class scheduling, he was able to take a wealth of diverse academic courses, which have helped him to understand many facets of the law, and increased his analytic capabilities while allowing him the opportunity to obtain practical experience through clerkships. Pete clerked for the City of Buffalo's Law Department, Tort Division, where he was responsible for defending Buffalo from liability claims brought against it. Pete also clerked for the Law Offices of Jaworski & Giacobbe, focusing his attention on family law and general practice matters. Pete graduated law school in May of 2012. After passing the New York Bar Exam on his first attempt, Pete was admitted to practice law in February of 2013.
Pete has since handled a variety of legal matters in most of the area state courts and the Western District of New York federal court. He is well regarded in the legal community for his zealous advocacy; he is Lead Counsel rated and an "Excellent" attorney according to Avvo.com. The following reviews from clients speak for themselves:

Peter McGrath is an excellent attorney and a good person who sincerely cares about other people. I retained Mr. McGrath on two separate occasions. The fee that I paid for each case was well within the parameters of what I considered reasonable. When I attempted to retain the services of Mr. McGrath, he responded immediately and kept me comfortably updated throughout the entire process. Each case was settled superbly.

Getting in touch with Peter was the best decision we could have taken. Peter explained everything to me in detail and attended the court on my behalf. He got the speeding ticket reduced to a parking violation which meant 0 points on my driving record. Peter did a phenomenal job and exceeded all my expectations in the way he handled things. If you ever get a speeding ticket, you should definitely have Peter represent you.We were traveling through New York state and got a speeding ticket. Having never received a speeding ticket in the last 7 years since I started driving, I was facing the prospect of either paying a large fine (with several points on my record) or appearing in court to contest the ticket. Being from out of state, it was very difficult for me to be present for court.

I got a speeding ticket on NY State Thruway and Peter got it reduced to a single parking violation. I am not a resident of New York and so I really appreciated (and very impressed) at Peter's quick responses to my inquiries via email or phone. His emails were professional, and complete with all the information I needed to understand what's going on and how to proceed with the final paperwork for my case. Definitely recommends his services.
Great Service!

For supplemental income I invest in real estate in the Buffalo area. In May of 2013 I contacted Pete about doing an eviction for one of my properties. At that point I was using another area attorney but I was becoming dissatisfied with his lack of communication and procrastination. From my first phone call with Pete I knew that he truly cared about protecting my investments and helping to grow my business. Since that phone conversation I have used Pete to conduct several real estate closings and perform many evictions and I could not be happier with his services. He is always available to answer my questions even on weekends and evenings. His prices are reasonable, Most importantly, he does what he says he will do, when he says he will do it. Under my former attorney, real estate closings would take months, but with Pete they are completed much quicker. The same is true for evictions. Additionally, Pete is a pleasure to talk with, he is personable, very knowledgeable, and very kind. I highly recommend Pete and will continue to call him my lawyer.

I recently contacted Peter about a speeding ticket I received while traveling through New York. From our first interaction Peter was professional and knowledgeable about my circumstances. He answered all my questions and emails on a timely manner and kept me informed on my situation. Peter made the entire process quick and simple. He appeared in court for me and was able to get my speeding ticket dropped to a parking ticket (which also meant zero points on my license). I would highly recommend Peter to my family, friends, or anyone in need of his assistance. I can’t thank him enough for everything he was able to do for me!
Great service !!!

I managed to get 2 speeding tickets in 2 days (70 over 55 and 80 over 55) in upstate NY area and was facing 10 points on my driving record plus quite significant monetary fine. Getting Peter to fight these tickets for me was the best decision I could have made - in the end, one ticket was dismissed after taking Defensive Driving Course and the other was downgraded to a parking violation. Peter's fee was very reasonable; very prompt responses to any questions I had - for the most part we communicated via e-mail and every e-mail was answered under 24 hours. Everything was resolved in less than a month! Overall, extremely happy with Peter's help and would recommend to anyone. Peter's contact details are now saved in my address book and if I or any of my friends need help with speeding tickets - Peter will be the first one we would call.
Glad I made the right choice!
